Dangerous goods are not permitted in the following:

  • Air mail, including those items permitted by section 2.4.2 IATA DGR
  • Courier and express cargo product "courier baggage voucher" (CBV) except biological substances, category B (UN3373)-RDS in courier, under MAWB.

The shipper must provide a 24-hour emergency contact telephone number of a person/agency, who is knowlegeable of the hazards, characteristics and actions to be taken during an emergency concerning each of the dangerous goods being transported. This telephone number, including the country and area code, preceded by the words "24-hour emergency contact telephone number" must be inserted in the "Handling Information" box of the DGD.

The following will not be accepted for carriage on Qatar Airways passenger flights:

  • UN3091 - Lithium Metal batteries contained in equipment
  • UN3091 - Lithium Metal batteries packed with equipment

The above include both Section I (fully regulated) and Section II (excepted) (See PI 969 - 970).

Lithium battery powered temperature loggers for pharmaceutical shipments are permitted with prior approval.To get approval, email qrdg@qatarairways.com.qa

The above restrictions are not applicable to QR Technical Supplies (COMAT) shipments.

Class 8 - Corrosives: The following items will not be accepted on Qatar Airways passenger and cargo aircrafts.

  • UN 2803 - Gallium
  • UN 2809 - Mercury
  • UN3506 - Mercury contained in manufactured articles including those listed in A69

Not used

The following dangerous goods will not be accepted for carriage as cargo:

  • UN3090 - Lithium metal cells and batteries, including lithium alloy cells and batteries, prepared in accordance with section IA and IB of packing instruction 968. UN3090 prepared in accordance with section II of packing instruction 968 will only be accepted on Qatar Airways Cargo aircraft.
  • UN3480 - Lithium ion cells and batteries, including lithium polymer cells and batteries, prepared in accordance with section IA and IB of packing instruction 965. UN 3480 prepared in accordance with section II of packing instruction 965 will be only accepted on Qatar Airways Cargo aircraft.

The above items shipped from or consigned to Qatar Airways Technical supplies as COMAT are only acceptable only on freighter aircraft, with prior approval. To get approval, email qrdg@qatarairways.com.qa

The following packaging restrictions must be adhered to on all Qatar Airways flights:

  • Packages containing lithium cells or batteries must not be placed in an overpack with packages containing any other dangerous goods
  • Lithium cells and batteries must not be packed in the same outer packaging with any other dangerous goods.

UN 1544, Alkaloid salts, solid, n.o.s. requires prior approval from Qatar Airways. To request for approval, send an email to: qrdg@qatarairways.com.qa

Dangerous goods being shipped under an approval in accordance with special provision A1 or A2 will not be accepted for transport.

The following dangerous goods will not be accepted for carriage as cargo:

  • Codeine Phosphate Hemihydrate (which may come under UN1544) must not be accepted for Qatar Airways aircraft. (Only goods between pharmaceutical companies and/or government entities with state approvals, can be accepted with prior approval from Qatar Airways Dangerous Goods Team. To get approval, please email qrdg@qatarairways.com.qa )
  • MICA Ester and Sucralose will not be accepted on Qatar Airways passenger and cargo aircraft
  • For COMAT exemptions, please contact the station of origin.
  • Liquid Dangerous Goods are not accepted on narrow bodied aircraft and bulk compartment of wide bodied aircraft
  • UN 38.3 test confirmation/summary is required for all lithium battery shipments
  • Small vehicles powered by lithium batteries such as hover boards, air wheels, solo-wheel etc. are not accepted as cargo even if the batteries are removed.
  • Dangerous goods with special Provision A1 are not accepted on Qatar Airways passenger aircraft. Dangerous goods with special Provision A2 are not accepted on Qatar Airways passenger and freighter aircraft.
  • Dangerous goods are not acceptable as Quick Ramp Transfers (QRT).
  • Munitions of War are not acceptable on Qatar Airways.
